(I was there)

Sorry guys, but if you spread the version of a bitter official who has made blunder after blunder in this testing procedure and tries to turn his shortcomings onto us, you are just as short-sighted as the officials themselves.

It were the anti-doping officials who arrived too early and announced themselves before the first athlete had even signed in for the contest. The word was spread that the contest would not take place. So no one entered and everyone went home and called the few friends and family who would come see the event. The max 50 spectators were advised not to bother coming over. What would you do on a rather small amateur contest (20 participants to be divided over all categories!) not knowing if your nasal spray or if paracetamol will or will not be considered as doping ? The list of forbidden substances is so ridiculous, that you can almost get fined for having a glass of water.

So no athlete refused any test. No one was oiled in or in tanga. We simply did not enter the competition. And the so-called 300 spectators who had to go home were in fact 3 in total.

What's worse; Dr Cooman (the main official) went to the press to spread his twisted version before any conclusion could be made.

The Kafka-like story continues; not even knowing who was really present, the government officially accused all pre-registered athletes of doping practices for having 'avoided' a control. The rules however are clear; an athlete needs to be informed that he is due for a test, once he has entered the competition, by leaflet on the center stage and on the dressing room entrance. No one entered the competition, no one was asked for any ID ... Nobody refused any test.

An unnecessary disciplinary hearing was held jul 06 and all were acquitted.

Still the government hasn't harassed us enough; we all just received notice that they are appealing the acquittance ! New hearing at aug 11. Yet another day spent to stupidness of state officials and again some lawyer costs. Organized the day off at work, the government sends another letter that the hearing has been postponed to aug 25. They had forgotten to check if their own people were available. Typical !

Nice to know: even after being completely acquitted, there is no possible way to get any compensation whatsoever for the loss of time, credibility, nor money. We loose from the moment they accuse us !

Frustrating how an innocent hobby can turn into a costly which hunt !
If all government people, starting with the anti-doping official Hans Cooman had done their job as they are supposed to do, the contest would have had place as planned, only a few would have been tested and if there were any, only the 'users' testing positive may have been harassed instead of all 20 !
