Training to Muscle FailureMuscle failure, the total inability to move a weight during barbell bench press, shoulder press, leg press etc. or the inability to perform a rep in a proper way, has always been differently approached by athletes, who – as bodybuilders – praise it as one of the most effective workout routines to gain muscle growth, whereas powerlifters neglect the idea of benefiting from muscle failure and stick to the prescribed number of reps per set and the prescribed weight limit. BeerSo you think hitting the pubs and sharing stone cold beer with your mates will make you manlier? Think again. How about sharing diet coke? Researches show that beer and other alcoholic drinks lower the testosterone levels, which of course makes a person, say, less manly. On the other hand, increasing female sex hormones causes accumulation of body fat. Also, alcoholism can cause body fat to store in a womanly fashion: in the hips and thighs! So if you are a serious bodybuilder, refrain from binge drinking. Continue reading »

Proper DeadliftsSome bodybuilders think that deadlifting is a walk in the park, but it’s not. Deadlifting is not just about bending down, grabbing a bar and standing up. In fact, some approaches might do more harm than help. For the most efficient results, deadlifting must be done in such a way so as to make the spinal erectors, lats, traps, quads and glutes work together in sync. Bodybuilders also need to lift their lower and upper bodies simultaneously. All these require proper concentration and application. So if you are looking to develop back thickness, then follow the advices below on how to pull of a proper deadlift. Continue reading »

Pulldown TechniquesFor a bodybuilder there are so many options of grips, but not enough time to do them all. Pulldowns, which help expand the lats, can be a tough one to decide on. Chromium SupplementTo any bodybuilder, testosterone is the most essential tool and cortisol is the bane. Testosterone is an enormously anabolic hormone that influences the growth of muscles. In contrast, cortisol is a very catabolic hormone that contributes to the breakdown of muscles. Essentially, cortisol limits the anabolic actions of testosterone by contending with it for its receptors in muscle cells. Thus the ratio of testosterone to cortisol helps scientists determine whether an athlete is in an anabolic or catabolic condition. An athlete will be less anabolic and more catabolic as this ratio decreases. Continue reading »

BodybuilderThe level of testosterone, the male hormone than aids muscle growth, is different in each person, just like the metabolism rate. Some bodybuilders innately have higher levels of testosterone, just like some people can metabolize fast. So if you want to increase your body mass, then you need to ensure that your testosterone levels don’t decrease. Your muscles should be roused completely for growth, but they also need time to recover, because the expansion is a part of the healing. And don’t forget to take supplements like Vitamin C and PS. If you want to grow as fast as a small plant, then heed the following suggestions. Continue reading »
